Don’t spoil the surprise!

When you go into your audition, you’ve already read the script (one would hope) and you know exactly what is going to happen. But now you have to pretend to have no clue how the scene will unfold.

It’s a tricky line to walk as an actor.  You don’t want to give away the end of the scene at the beginning. And if there is a shocking moment that should catch you off guard, the fake surprise tends to come off… well, fake.

When you set the expectation to be the opposite of what ends up happening, your audition scene will feel fresh, alive and spontaneous!
